WebThirty years after EPSDT was introduced, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was enacted by Congress to encourage states to build on the success of Medicaid and expand coverage to moderate-income uninsured children. As an incentive, states were granted more leeway in designing their CHIP programs but many Webrealize EPSDT’s goals and provide the best possible child and adolescent health benefit through their Medicaid programs. While it does not establish new EPSDT policy, this guide serves the important purpose of compiling into a single document various EPSDT policy guidances that CMS has issued over the years.
