Cytokinin structure
WebCytokines refer to a large group of cell-signaling molecules that essentially consists of proteins, peptides, and glycoproteins. They either have short or long chain structures. They are primarily released by immune system cells in order to initiate cell-to-cell interaction in order to generate an immune response. WebCytokinin Structures Naturally occurring cytokinins are adenine derivatives with a side chain at the N6 -position ( Figure 1 ). The structure and conformation of the N6 -attached side chain can markedly influence the biological activity of the cytokinin.
