WebKnightstown itself is one of the few ‘town-planned’ villages of Ireland. The village of Knightstown was laid out by Alexander Nimmo in 1830-31, but it wasn’t built until the early 1840’s when the quarry was greatly expanded and the works were moved to Knightstown. WebKnight of Kerry, also called the Green Knight, is one of three Anglo-Irish hereditary knighthoods, all of which existed in Ireland since feudal times. The other two were the White Knight ( Fitzgibbon / FitzGerald) extinct and the Knight of Glin ( Black Knight (FitzGerald)) extinct or dormant since September 2011.
